Methodology

To identify the world's most iconic water destinations, we first compiled a seed list of 118 popular locations by analyzing high-quality articles from sources such as Condé Nast TravelerTime Out, and Travel + Leisure. We then collected data from TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, recording the total number of posts associated with each destination's hashtag on each platform. To ensure accuracy and consistency in our analysis, we standardized the data. We summed up the scores for each location and ranked them from higher to lower, with higher scores indicating greater popularity.
